Training Experience:
Began studying daily yoga classes in the Spring of
1971 under the guidance of Sat Kirpal Singh in Eugene,
Oregon. During the Fall of 1971, I moved to Los
Angeles to pursue consistent study with Yogi Bhajan,
master of Kundalini Yoga and spiritual leader of the
3HO organization in the western hemisphere. Since
that time, I have attended over fifteen years of
annual teacher training sessions and intensives that
have enabled me to teach Kundalini Yoga all over the
country. Among these was a one month teacher training
in December of 1971 with Guru Don (Phoenix, Az),
focusing completely on the direct teachings of Yogi
Bhajan.
1973 to 1975 Berkeley:
Ran the Berkeley Kundalini Yoga Ashram teaching weekly
classes. Also led a very successful daily class at the
University of California, meeting every morning at
7:45am.
Bay Area:
During Spring of 1974, I co-taught two separate
month-long teacher training programs at the beautiful
San Rafael Ashram with Karm Jot Singh.
1974 Vacaville State Medical Facility:
Led a weekly Wednesday class at the prison in
Vacaville, CA teaching Yoga to inmates. This very
successful, yet stressful program was discontinued when
I moved back to Oregon for the Winter of 1975-76.
1975 Yosemite:
I designed and led a Summer meditation and yoga program for Yosemite National Park Service.
1975-76 Bend, Oregon:
Hired as head of the local ski team; I used Yoga to
train my racers for the winter season. Also led weekend
workshops with the US Ski Team and the Pacific Northwest Junior National team introducing them to the benefits of Yogic conditioning as a cross-training tool.
Summer of 1976 was punctuated by the birth of my
daughter. In time our family moved to Salem, Oregon
where I continued teaching locally and once again
co-taught a class at the Oregon State Penitentiary
with Cameron Healy.
During this Winter I also taught a twice weekly class
at Central Oregon Community College.
Over the course of my yoga teaching career I have
taught courses at all of the following places:
Central Oregon Community College, Bend, Oregon
Sunriver Resort, Sunriver, Oregon
Tumalo Oregon
Outdoor Workshop in Sisters, Oregon
Black Butte Ranch, Sisters, Oregon
Big Red Ranch, Sisters, Oregon
Brietenbush Hot Springs, Oregon
Salem, Oregon
Portland, Oregon
Seattle Kundalini Yoga Center (co-founded)
San Rafael Kundalini Yoga Ashram
Esalen Institute, Big Sur
University of California, Berkeley
Kundalini Yoga Ashram, Berkeley
Kundalini Yoga Ashram, San Francisco
Yosemite National Park
I have taken teacher training classes in Los Angeles,
Santa Fe, Tucson, Phoenix, Eugene, Seattle, Arcata,
Bend, Berkeley, San Francisco, San Rafael, Espanola,
and Santa Cruz.
More recently, I invented a hybrid workout called
Sonic Stretch. Sonic Stretch is a combination of yoga,
stretching and dance set to wonderful rhythmic music.
Ranging from ambient to high energy dance, the program
is designed to allow every participant to find their
own rhythms within music and dance and to stretch at
their own pace. Great for all ages. I am currently
producing a video for Sonic Stretch and plan to fully
begin teaching classes and teacher training by the end
of this year.
